Dr. Potla Sivaiah, Chief Joint Replacement Surgeon, Shri Ramchandra Joint Replacement Center, the patient, Mrs. Uma Maheswari.
The doctors called it a very Rare, Complex yet a Fast-tract Reverse Shoulder Joint Replacement Surgery.
67-year-old P. Uma Maheswari was suffering with acute pain in her left shoulder and was not able to do her daily chores like combing hair, wearing her blouse, going to the toilet, lifting small things at home.
She also has history of accidental fall and has swelling and inflation with very limited movements.
At this stage, she consulted Dr.Potla Sivaiah, and after his thorough and comprehensive analysis, she was diagnosed with Supraspinatus and Infraspinatus tear and her tendons almost shrinked and thinned.
Dr. Potla Sivaiah advised Reverse Shoulder Joint Replacement Surgery. Considering her age and other risk factors, it is deemed to be a critical surgery. But the patient was confident about the surgery with the way Dr.Potla Sivaiah has explained the benefits and complications in a transparent manner.
Dr. Potla Sivaiah knew that it was a very rare surgery and was very much aware about the complications of surgery and took extreme care of the patient from stem to stern (or from admission till post recovery) with tender-loving-care.
On 11th July 2021, Dr. Potla Sivaiah conducted Reverse Shoulder Joint Replacement Surgery using Uncemented U.S.A Implants, and within a few hours the patient was mobilized and started doing pendular exercises.
Post operation, Dr.Sivaiah Potla and his team have extended excellent pain management options and physiotherapy which has enabled the patient to recover quickly and comfortably.
On 24th July her staples were removed and surgery scars healed well, the post-operation X-ray is very satisfying, and the patient is very happy with the outcome and overall treatment.
This is really a very rare and complicated surgery, a true stellar. A very small mistake can lead to loss of life or can cause life-long paralysis. In Andhra Pradesh and Telengana, there will be less than 10 surgeries in a year… added Dr.Potla Sivaiah.
